PVC AND PLASTIC SUBSTRATES
The Corona Treatment Unit specializes in making adhesion possible on traditionally difficult substrates, such as plastics, synthetics, and metals. By applying an electrical discharge directly to the substrate, the dyne level can be adjusted to make your primer or coating adhere properly.

HIGHER DYNE LEVELS
Dyne is the energy unit used to measure the ink's surface tension or "wettability". For best results the target dyne level should be in the mid-40 range.

Possible difficulties due to low dyne include:
-
Reticulation
-
Pin Holes
-
Lack of Adhesion
-
Poor Scuff/Scratch Resistance
The Corona Difference
Before Corona
Reticulation Due to Low Dyne
After Corona
No Reticulation

No Pin Holes, After Corona Treatment
SINGLE PASS SOLUTION
The Corona Treatment Unit is optionally available on most ExcelCoat models, and creates a single pass solution.

Increase your throughput by treating your sheets in one pass, and have your substrate ready for ink, priming, or coating in no time.
